Exercise Log 8.8.14 (Front Squat & Bench Press Day, No Cardio)

Two rest days (had some stuff going on) plus a cardio only day left me well rested but anxious to get back to the grindstone and finish up this workout cycle. It definitely paid off in an awesome workout!

Front Squat: Set a new PR today just on a whim! Not only was it good form (even video reviewed) but it was a strong rep, felt if I had tried heavier I could’ve potentially done it as well! Set 1) 5 reps @ 150lbs. Set 2) 3 reps @ 160lbs. Set 3) 2 reps @ 170lbs. Set 4) 4 reps @ 175lbs (my old max). Set 5) 1 rep @ 185lbs (new PR!).

Bench Press: Did the traditional flat bench press. Set 1) 3 reps @ 160lbs. Set 2) 3 reps @ 160lbs. Set 3) 1 rep @ 170lbs. I thought about doing more, but gave it some thought. A lifter in the gym offered to spot, so I tried it. I wasn’t sure it was helpful, but it was nice to have the option to continue without having to worry so much. I did need assistance, but got two assisted reps. I won’t log that as a set really though.

Angled Leg Press / Calf Raises: 5 sets of 6 reps presses / 8 reps raises @ 380lbs.

That’s it, had evening plans and felt fantastic from the PR so felt like this was enough.
