Exercise Log 2.4.14 (Leg Day, No Cardio)

Okay quick log of yesterday’s leg day at home. Weather was predicting freezing rain starting late, but the notion of getting caught in that away from home sucked so I got errands done and got home early.

Warmups: 3 rounds 10x bodyweight squats / 10x mountain climbers (both legs = 1 rep). Just basic stuff to get my legs moving.

Curl Bar Front Squats: I needed to do a lot of volume since I have very little load, also integrated momentary pauses in reps and focused a lot on form, particularly hip separation. Lots of volume to make up for the lightness of the weight. 7 sets 16 reps @ 65lb.

Curl Bar Standing Lunges: Putting that curl bar on my shoulders, I did some standing lunges. 3 sets 10 reps @ 65lb

Curl Bar Goblet Squats: Using a tight inner grip where my hands almost touched, I held the curl bar right up to my chin, emulating a conventional curl bar squat. 4 sets 8 reps @ 65lbs.

Bulgarian Split Squats / Stiff Legged Deadlifts: 3 sets 8 ea. bulg split squat / 10 reps stiff legged deadlifts, both @ 65lbs.

Calf Raises / Step Ups: I wrapped up with a fun exercise, kept that loaded up curl bar which I’m clearly overusing in this workout but hey, it’s leg day and that’s the most weight I got at home, and did something fun. Going to the first step at my stairwell (which is a very clean step, btw) I did first calf raises (with the curl bar I had to be cautious not to slip). Then after that I did fast steps (one foot up, the other, then down) which I then did the same with the other foot first, just trying to be fast as possible without risking falling over and smacking my stuff up in my room. My main obstacle to doing this was the fact that the cat treet is just behind the base of my stairs, and I was afraid the whole time my cat would jump up on it and jump on my shoulders while I was trying to do this. 4 sets 8 reps ea. calf raises / 10 reps ea. fast step ups both @ 65lbs.

No cardio today because I was at home, and the weather is awful and I honestly was running late all day today. This winter is taking a hit in my cardio, but I’ll make it up in the spring.

Socialism WORKS!

Socialism WORKS! is a short website presentation I put together years ago with help from a friend. It is something of a snarky take on Socialism, critical of the advantages of Socialism from various origins of the idea.
